STLYISH SUN PROTECTIVE BEACHWEAR AND SWIMWEAR

By on July 15, 2018

Summer is here which for us means plenty of beach days, ice cream, and sunscreen! If you know me then you know I crazy about sun protection and always wearing spf and clothing to cover my skin from the sun. Same goes for my little lady. Lila has some of the fairest skin I have ever seen so keeping it out of the sun is a must. Also she sneezes the second she gets into the sun so it’s sunglasses and a hat for her always- just like mama.

Keeping covered is way easier said than done when it comes to the summer months.  My daughter lives to be in the water and always her best self when at the pool or beach. So while I loved matching her in the water, I needed more! I found this amazing brand called Cabana Life that actually has UPF 50 in their clothing and blocks 98% of UVA + UVB rays. *Cue a large sigh of relief* One look at their site and I saw that they had an entire mommy and me section, which I was instantly drawn to! There are tons of styles of beachwear and swimwear to pick from that are matching and all the patterns are so cute. I have seen UPF swimwear before but usually the clothing is a solid color and it’s still a swimsuit exposing a lot of skin. Well Cabana Life knows what’s up and has something for everyone! From a 2 piece to a uni-suit (I got a uni-suit and let me tell you I am already putting more colors  on my wishlist).) And if that isn’t a enough there’s also a matching set for my little lady.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer and will be able to look back at all the memories in a few weeks when school starts. Long live summer!

The 3 S’s To Stay Safe From The Sun This Summer:

+ SUNBLOCK / put it on 15 mins before sun exposure and reply every 90 minutes you are in the sun.

+ SPF SWIMWEAR / let your swimwear do the work for you and check for a suit that has UPF and blocks UVA + UVB rays.

+ STAY HYDRATED / an easy way to remember to drink water is treating yourself to a cute new tumbler. I know that having a cute cup with a straw turns drinking water into an accessory.

THE PERFECT PACKING SYSTEM FOR EVERY SEASON OF LIFE

By on July 1, 2018

I have been carrying a bag for as long as I can remember. And I think most women have. There are just so many things to bring along. Keys, lipgloss, phone, wallet, etc. And then you have a baby and somehow the space that was solely occupied by you and was bursting at the seems, now has to be shared by 2. It took me a long time to find a bag that could be shared by two comfortably. But I finally found a flawless packing system and the only con I have listed on my pro / con list is that I didn’t get it sooner.

The bag I’m sharing with you is the Lorie from Lily Jade Co. If you haven’t heard of Lily Jade Co then you might not even be on Instagram. Seriously their bags are everywhere on the ‘gram and no question why because they are STUNNING! And I guarantee you that if you go to your trending page right now your eye will catch one of their gorgeous and vibrant bags in a photo.

I went with the Lorie bag because it’s a large crossover tote that look gorgeous but can hold a TON of stuff. Being able to hold a ton of stuff is a priority in a diaper bag. She is the perfect “daily” bag and I take her everywhere I go. It also perfectly first my 13″ MacBook Pro which is praise hands emoji in my book. You can also carry it 3 ways: tote, messenger, and backpack. I mostly carry backpack style so that my hands are free, but I also love carrying it tote style too.

The most unique thing about this bag is that it can be paired with a companion bag that fits perfectly inside. The Danielle is a bag that I will be reaching for long after the days of baby. From the second I took this bag out of the packaging I knew it was my favorite bag I have ever owned. It is just the right size and is absolutely gorgeous in person! The color is rich and vibrant and the quality is hands down perfection. It’s everything I ever wanted in a bag.

So whether you’re expecting, looking to upgrade your current diaper bag, or are looking for a freaking amazing lifestyle/travel bag this one right here is a winner.

CELEBRATING ALL MY FAVORITE LADIES

By on May 29, 2018

If you need me I’ll be in the backyard soaking up some sun and writing love notes to my favorite ladies. Something that I really love is getting mail. There is something so lovely and timeless about it. I do my best to send snail mail when I can, because I know receiving a little something in the mail goes a long way. When I heard about the Celebrate Divine Women box by
Divine Chocolate I knew I needed one in my life STAT. The box comes with everything you need to send a little love someones way… a card, a chocolate bar, and confetti.

WAYS TO PROMOTE TODDLER INDEPENDENCE

By on November 21, 2017

Hi Everyone!

It’s no secret that my little lady, Lila, is my BABY. I have defiantly been known to be a helicopter parent because I am pretty much that girl’s shadow. Since she is my first and only kid I have been keen on not missing a moment. I mean, not missing a singlemoment. She spends nearly one hundred percent of her time with me. I rarely will have my mom watch her for any reason. I can’t explain why I feel so attached to her, I just never want to be without her. Does anybody else feel that way?

Now that Lila is in full on kid mode I wanted to share with you ways that I have been encouraging her independence in different ways around the house. It’s hard for me sometimes to stop myself from just doing everything for her.

In The Kitchen

  • If I am cooking in the kitchen, I give Lila a special title of “Kitchen Helper.” She begs to be called this and will do anything I ask as long as she is referred to by this nickname. Figuring this out was a game changer in getting her excited to help out.
  • While in the kitchen I will ask her help for getting ingredients out the refrigerator. She can reach even the highest shelf in our fridge so unless something is really far back or blocked by a lot of other items, she can grab things with ease.
  • When the ingredients are being chopped or mixed I try to include her as much as possible while still being safe. Her favorite thing to do is pour pre-measured ingredients into bowl or mix with spoon in bowl.
  • When lunch is getting cooked I will hand her items to put items in trash. She really loves putting things in the trash can and my husband will ask her to do this from all over the house.

Mealtime

  • One thing I have never done is fed Lila. You know like put some on a spoon and fly it into their mouth pretending it’s an airplane? Not me. Ever since Lila started eating solid food I put her plate in front of her with a fork/spoon and let her have at it. At first mealtime was pretty messy, but the better her hands got with utensils the less messy it became. Since she has never had help, she doesn’t expect it. She is very independent when it comes to eating and even picking what she is hungry for.
  • I usually will offer two options and let her pick. This makes it easy because she has control over what she is eating while I get to pick what the options are. We do this for snacks and full meals.
  • When mealtime is over Lila will actually ask for a wipe and wipe her own face. It is something she started doing all on her own and I wouldn’t have it any other way. She sometimes needs help with her hands and if she asks I will help her.

Dressing

  • I have shared this before but Lila’s Montessori closet has a clothing rack with all of her available options. The majority of her outfits that she wears inside or outside daily are all created by her. I do monitor which selections go on the rack, but when it comes to picking outfits it is all her. Unless we are taking photos where she needs to be wearing a specific outfit. I really do try to never go against her outfit choices once they have been picked out.
  • Things that she can do by herself while getting dressed/undressed include:
  • pulling her shirt off of her head
  • pushing her arms through sleeves
  • pulling her socks off
  • putting her shoes on
  • pulling her shoes off
  • putting shoes in the shoes basket by our front door

Laundry

  • I have shared this before but Lila’s Montessori closet has a hamper where she puts her own clothes in a dirty bin after they have been worn.
  • When the bin fills up she will help me transfer the clothes from bin to washer, washer to dryer, and dryer to bin.
  • We are having a hard time learning how to fold without turning the clothing into scrunched up piles. We will get there! haha. (Tips welcomed!)

In The Bathroom

  • Washing handsis something that I do need to watch her do because she is up on a high stool. But she does the water and soap all on her own.
  • Letting me know she needs a new diaper. She will always tell me when she needs a new diaper and even go and get one for me to change her.Potty training is around the corner and that’s a whole new ball game.
  • This is simple but I alwayslet her pick which towel to use when she gets out of the bath. She will pick it before hand and we use it when she needs to dry off.

I hope you enjoyed these simple ways I am encouraging independence at home. We are adding to the list everyday it seems that before I know it I’ll have a little citizen on my hands.
