MY WISH FOR YOU: TO ALWAYS LOOK FOR THAT SPARKLE

Thank you to Scholastic for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Being a girl mom is the most amazing thing in the world. Everyday, I get to give my little lady affirmations that will become apart of who she is. There are so many ways to offer these affirmations:. Verbally through words, musically through songs, with actions that show her the way she ought to be treated, and with books that help convey the message through a story.

Some of our favorite books are the ones that have mermaids and unicorns. But, in that same pile of favorites, we have books reminding our little sparkle that her mommy and daddy love her.  After the affirmative books, Lila will tell us, “That book made me feel good.” or “That book made me feel happy.” Our newest favorite that has been a hit night after night is MY WISH FOR YOU Bby Kathryn Hahn with illustrations by Brigette Barrager. It’s it is a love letter to daughters everywhere, encouraging young girls to always be themselves, no matter what the world tells them.

What I love about My Wish For You is the message to be curious, strong, and vulnerable. To live life on your own terms. To always look for that sparkle! A book that we will be picking out to read at night and cherish for years to come.

The book’s author, Kathryn Hahn, is an actress who has appeared in both television and movies. I recently saw her in Bad Moms, and she was hilarious! She lives in Los Angeles with her family, and My Wish for You is her first book with Scholastic. Inspired by the everyday life lessons of raising her own six-year-old daughter, the author and actress creates a heartfelt and touching meditation on the inherent power every girl has deep inside herself. Here is a timely and necessary message of the intrinsic importance of being who you are, no matter what the world tells you. To be curious, strong, and vulnerable. To live life on your own terms. To always look for that sparkle!

  • What a cute book. I really love the message here. We need to remind our daughters that they bring a lot to the world just the way they are.

  • This book looks fantastic! I’m pregnant and have a hunch it’s a girl. I’m putting this on my wish list in the event I’m right 🙂

  • This is such a cute book. My girls would have loved this when they were younger. It can be tough to find books with a good message that everyone loves!

Places to go, eat, and shop

I have lived in Los Angeles almost my whole life. I have gotten to know the city as a child, a teen, a young adult, a married woman, and now a mom. Whether you have lived here all of your life too, or are coming into town for vacation- check out some of my favorite spots!
