ROAD TRIP READY WITH CYBEX SIRONA M

By on April 15, 2018

Road trip ready, beep beep! We are checking off a bucket list item this weekend at Yosemite National Park. This has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and this weekend is the perfect excuse to drive up and spend some family time together.
My husband loves to hike and explore nature so for him this is the perfect vacation. Since my husband works a 9-5 inside Los Angeles, he loves any excuse to get away and be with nature. We couldn’t imagine leaving Lila behind on any of our adventures so away we go!

At the top of my To Do list before we leave is installing a new car seat. As a mom every little thing worries me and car seat safety is one of those things. I did some research trying to find the right car seat that would put me at ease, and finally found, CYBEX Sirona M. It’s basically every parent’s dream car seat and the newest addition to the CYBEX Gold Car Seat family. Sirona M uses SensorSafe 2.0 which offers advanced child safety protection.

SensorSafe 2.0 integrates important safety technology into the chest clip of the car seat. SensorSafe 2.0 goes a step further to monitor the well being of the child while the vehicle is in motion. Whether you accidentally leave the child alone in the car or the child unbuckles herself, the essential alert will go off through both the vehicle receiver and the caregiver’s cellphone. There is a small vehicle receiver that is installed in the vehicle OBD2 port and that is what connects to the smartphone. If you are driving the car and can’t access the phone, the app is not required to receive the alerts.

This give me peace of mind to leave my worries at home and enjoy the trip ahead. I never know what’s going on back there with her car seat straps. But now I’m worry free since I will know if anything unsafe arrises in the backseat. I don’t know how I went this long without this family trip must have item.

p.s. At the bottom of this post I have rounded up all of my favorite things that I picked up to get us through this roadtrip.

OUR FAVORITE SUNSCREEN FOR THE POOL

By on March 22, 2018

One of the best parts about living in California is being able to swim year round. I loved swimming growing up and got to do it often since we had a pool in our backyard. It was one of my favorite things to do and I spent almost all of my free time under water. I remember before every swim my mom would put sunscreen on me and I never understood why I had to use it. I just wanted to swim! Lila loves swimming almost as much as I did and I have learned a thing or two about sun safety since then.

I always make sure to lather her fair skin before we go anywhere but especially the pool. Our favorite for year round application is California Baby’s Sensitive Skin with 30 SPF. It’s a mineral sunscreen that has actually won several awards. It is free of added fragrances, common allergens, and irritants so it’s perfect for allergy-prone, sensitive skin. (Hello, Lila!) The cream applied works as as a barrier on top of the skin instead of being absorbed by the skin like a lot of chemical sunscreens. It’s a diaper bag must have. I like to keep the stick option too so I can just swipe it across Lila’s face in a hurry.

If you want to stock up on sunscreen for summer or try anything else from California Baby you can use code: CELESTE15 for 15% off your entire purchase. No minimum purchase required and code expires 4/16.

HOW TO EASILY GET YOUR TODDLER TO GO TO BED

By on February 17, 2018

Our Bedtime Routine is a daily task that we are close to having mastered. I am lucky that my daughter has always loved sleep, but there are a few things we do that encourage her to get yawning at night.

The first step of our bedtime routine is bath time. Having a bath is a great way to signal it’s time to wind down for the evening. I like to introduce calming scents in and around the bath to help get my little one feeling cozy and ready for cuddles. A few weeks ago we said goodbye to baths and switched to showers. She actually really enjoys standing showers and it’s been a lot faster of a process, too.

This is the Shower Filter I shared on Instagram. It helped us SO much getting Lila to have eczema free skin. With her normal skin care routine and this filter she is doing great!

In the shower I’ll wet her bath sponge and put a nickel size of body wash on it. I’ll rub this all over her body focusing on the skin that was exposed that day. Usually arms and legs. Then I will wash off the soap and wrap her in a towel without drying her off.

While she is all wrapped up I take her straight to her bed and lay her down. With her skin still damp I apply her eczema cream onto her applicator and rub it into her problem areas. Her areas that will flare up are her knees, behind the knees, her elbows, her left foot, and her left hand. Then I put on her pajamas and move on to her hair.

I always spray her hair with detangler and then work through it with a wet brush. Once it’s brushed and there are no tangles I’ll work about a dime size of mousse through her hair starting at the ends. It makes a huge difference in the way her hair looks the next day! We can’t get enough of this particular jelly mousse. I love that it keeps her hair in place and still feels soft to the touch. No crunchiness!

Next we brush teeth, I recently found a toothbrush for her that I really like. I’ll link it along with all my bedtime favorites at the bottom of this post.

Now that she is all ready for bed we will play in her room together for about half hour. I’ll put on her sound machine or play some calming music, in effort to keep the mood ready for sleep. When it is time to turn out the lights I will cuddle next to her and then usually she will fall asleep pretty quickly.

And…. That’s our routine! It usually takes an hour start to finish. It’s a lot shorter since we switched to showers from baths. I do notice it helps her to get the last little bit of energy out to play in her room after bath time. That was something that I didn’t know to do until it just happened one night and she fell asleep so much faster. So now it’s just part of the routine. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments. Happy Snoozing!

CITY TRAVEL ESSENTIALS: PACKING LIGHT WITH TODDLER

By on December 30, 2017

The older Lila gets the less we usually need while on an outing. I try my hardest to travel light, but I admit I have a safety net knowing that I packed our car for just about every scenario. I find myself wanting to carry a diaper bag even less when my husband is out with us. Don’t get me wrong I sure do love carrying a bag but sometimes when you’re in the city it’s just easier to travel light.

Since Lila is still in diapers one thing that we can’t ever leave in the car is diapers, wipes, and a changing mat. I absolutely love this changing kit from Skip Hop. I have been using the exact system since Lila was just a baby. I love that there is a place for the essentials and easily clips to the stroller or can slip into the under basket. I am a sucker for anything blush so I just upgraded to their new blush print! I love the textured pattern on the front and it feels so good getting a new, clean one. This time I tossed the red wipes case that it came with and threw in my favorite wipe holder in it’s place. I should have done this years ago!

Aside from packing light, we also travel light with the coolest stroller ever. We have had this stroller forever but it never gets old how small it folds up. It folds up into the size of diaper bag and has a carrying strap for you to hold it by. When we park in parking structures and have to walk up the stairs my husband will carry it and I’ll carry Lila. Then we get to the car we talk about how awesome it is that we didn’t have to wait for the elevator. Ha! It’s also useful for those restaurants that aren’t exactly kid friendly and don’t know what to do with your stroller while you eat. We just fold it up and throw it under the table.

I actually get stopped almost every time we go out and people ask about my stroller. Either they know what model it is already or they’ll say ‘is that the one that folds really small?’ My husband will roll his eyes overtime we get stopped because he knows I love to talk about our stroller with strangers while we are out.

So this our travel system right now! Light, practical, and easy to transport from point a to point b. If you have any questions let me know in the comments.

PUT A NAME BUBBLE ON IT

By on December 18, 2017

From play group to play dates our sippy cups get thrown around. Our favorite little pink cup used to stand out from the crowd but these days it has become more and more popular. When searching for a name label it was important to me that the label was waterproof. We wash our cups so much that I didn’t want to have to reapply a new label every time I washed it. I found these labels from Name Bubbles and they are perfect. They are waterproof and actually pretty life proof! Our cups get tossed around so much so these labels really come to the rescue, making sure we always know which cup is ours.

If you are looking for some labels for your kiddos these are the way to go! I also snagged a 15% off code for you too 🙂 Enter promo code: OHHELLO at checkout.  UNICORN LABELS PACK

Celeste Wright

MONTESSORI | MUST HAVES WITH BABY

MONTESSORI FLOOR BED USING TOMORROW SLEEP

By on September 27, 2017

Hi Everyone!

Something that has always been missing from Lila’s room is a bed. She has coslept with me since the day she was born, so we never really needed a crib for her. When she was about a year and a half old I transformed our second bedroom from an office to a playroom. It was a really fun project and I loved being able to give her a room of her very own. I also loved that all of her toys were in one place it made it easier to  keep chaos out of the living room.

Even though she didn’t have a bed, she had a DockATot laying on the floor for her to use if she wanted to read books in it or lay down on. What she really loved to do was get a blanket and tuck in her babies like they were going to sleep. It was really sweet. It’s been over a year since we have had this set up and it seems like she has outgrown it. The opportunity came up to get her a bed and it could’t have come at a more perfect time.

I knew I wanted her to have a floor bed because I have always loved the idea of it. It is also a common Montessori practice, and I try to incorporate Montessori as much as possible in our home. I am so excited to share with you her bed frame! I probably won’t have it set up until the end of the month so stay tuned for that.

Today I want to focus on sharing with you whywe chose Tomorrow Sleep. Below I have highlighted all of the special reasons we love their sleep system. If  you have any questions please leave me a comment and I’ll answer it best I can. There is also a MAJOR coupon code for you, so scroll to the bottom to grab it.

Mattress: We ordered a twin sized, medium firm, hybrid mattress. The hybrid construction combines cooling high-density memory foam with a breathable, supportive coil system in the perfect balance of cool comfort and support for real, restorative sleep. All the foams in the Tomorrow Sleep mattress have environmental certifications that ensure they are safe and non-toxic. Our polyurethane foams (memory foam, transition foam, and poly support foam) are CertiPUR certified. Designed and made in the USA. Other major perks are a 100 day trial, free 2-3 day shipping, and a 10-year limited warranty. You can get $100 off any mattress with code:

Mattress Protector:mattress protector was a must have item for me. Water spills, potty accidents, and anything else in between. This is waterproof shield you can’t feel and guards from spills and dirt. It’s basically the best insurance policy for your mattress, whether it’s for your toddler or you.

Monitor:The sleeptracker monitor is something we are not going to use for quite a while, but it’s so awesome that I have to share it with you. The Sleeptracker Monitor analyzes your sleep cycles, breathing rate, heart rate and movement to offer personalized suggestions for better sleep. It monitors whether you are in light sleep, deep sleep or REM, and knows how much time you spend in each stage. Then it will offer feedback and tips to help you progress each night. Crazy cool, right?

Drapes: Blackout drapes need to be on every single baby registry. How are they not? We have only had them for a few weeks and I already can’t live without them. These are designed to blackout 90% of light from your sleeping area. They also help control the temperature in your space, keeping out extreme cold and heat making a perfect climate that’s essential to restorative sleep. Shown in photos: two drapes in color linen.

Pillows: Since I still nurse her to sleep I got two pillows. One for me and one for her. For me I chose the memory foam pillow, it’s a two sided memory foam bed pillow that is designed to feel cool on one side and cozy on the other. I am always so uncomfortable when I stand up after getting her to sleep, but this pillow has relieved so much discomfort that I am used to feeling. For Lila I went with the Plush Pillow. Boy does the name fit this pillow because it is  p l u s h. It is designed for cushy comfort and is a hypoallergenic. It’s the perfect option for all types of sleepers, it has a silky soft sateen surface, and is more dense than down for added neck support. Certified by the Allergy & Asthma Foundation of America.

Sheets & Comforter: Tomorrow Sleep’s Sheet Set is made of 100% USA grown Supima cotton and is a luxurious 500 thread count. It has a super soft feel and get be beat when it comes to touch. The sheets are super breathable and have a light crisp feel. Tomorrow Sleep’s Comforter is an all-season lofty comforter designed to help keep you at just the right temperature as you sleep. It’s a 300 thread count surface and down-alternative filling come together in an evenly plush quilt.

I was so excited to get this in Lila’s room and set up for her. The first day I tried to put her down for a nap (and she never naps!) and it was a miracle that she did. It was the best thing ever. She was all tucked in and looked like such a big girl. She slept for about two hours and I was too busy sneaking snacks and happy dancing to actually get anything productive done. Haha. It has been so fun to see her love her new bed. She literally never wants to leave her room anymore.

I hope everyone has a great week and here is the coupon code again in case you missed it: You can get $100 off any mattress with code:

Warmly,

Celeste Wright

MUST HAVES WITH BABY

THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT BABY ITEM

By on October 17, 2016
My absolute favorite thing in the world is baby wearing my little one. I have been baby wearing her since she was just a few weeks old and I know it has given so much strength to our bond. Everywhere we go we have to have the carrier close by because at any second she will want me to hold her and run up to me chirping, “Pouch!”
When she was younger I could spend an entire day out and about with her in the carrier, but ever since she started walking she craves independence and wants to walk beside me. I love holding her handand having walk her next to me. It’s amazing to me that in a matter of months she went from not being able to hold her head up, to holding my hand and walking next to me.

Two crucial things I have used a carrier for is nap time and nursing. If she is in the carrier there is a 99% chance that she is either sleeping or breastfeeding. Both of those things wouldn’t be possible on the go without a carrier and have made day to day life so much easier.

I have always tried to listen my daughter’s cues and I have never enforced a schedule onto her. I don’t think that having a schedule is bad thing, but for me and my lifestyle it was rather unnecessary stress. For me it was more important that she ate when she was hungry and she napped when she was tired. With that came days that she would nap for hours in the carrier and not want to transfer, which my back was not happy about. Looking back I couldn’t be happier with my choice though because I know that the bond we have was strengthened from all those hours upon hours of holding her close to me.
