THE BEST PART OF WAKING UP

By on May 22, 2018

There are few things I love more than a cup of coffee. Especially first thing in the morning. Last week I decided to try a new brand since I was out of coffee at home. Perfect time to try something new if I do say so myself. I was so excited to try out 1850 Brand Coffee because it is the new premium coffee from the makers of Folger’s and can be found at Target. Score! I have been helping my Dad scoop Folger’s into a coffee pot since I was kid. I already loved Folger’s and trust the quality, but I have to say this 1850 Brand Coffee is a whole new level! Gives me just the jolt I need to conquer the day.

I’ll admit I am a two cup a day coffee drinker. (Heck sometimes three!) The first cup is the morning right when I wake up. Nothing gets me out of bed faster than the excitement of making a cup of coffee. Starting my day off with a cup of coffee can greatly alter the course of the day. Especially the type of coffee. Give me a bad cup that doesn’t hit the spot- well I might as well go back to bed. Because the day is practically ruined. (Dramatic? Barely!) But start me off with a good cup of coffee well than this day just got great. Nothing inspires me quite like a cup of coffee. And this week drinking 1850 Brand Coffee at home has inspired me everyday to get ready for the day in a positive way and get out there and do something exciting.

My second cup of coffee is usually in the afternoon around 1-2pm. I call it ‘me time’ and I like to focus on what I need to get done before Hubs comes home from work. I almost always make my afternoon coffee in a French Press, but sometimes I will use my Keurig. Which was so nice having the choice of 1850 Brand Coffee Ground or a K-Cup. I love the K-Cups on hand for when I am in a hurry and need to take it to go! But I am not gonna lie that French Press really makes you brings out rich taste and aroma of this unique blend of ground coffee. It is bold, yet smooth- and since I drink my coffee black it makes a huge difference that it’s roasted consistently and has flavor of less bitterness.

I guess you can say coffee is what helps inspire me to make bold choices. Every day starts with a morning. And in this house every morning starts with coffee. Back in 1850, J.A. Folger started something new and innovative- to help the prospectors as they sought their fortunes. I guess that’s what we are all after in a way. A new way to conquer the day and achieve our goals. Today, there’s still no better way to get after it than with a cup of coffee! 1850 Brand Coffee is a symbol of what coffee really is, which is so much more than just coffee, but a way for us to hustle. I bet most of you reading this are real hustler’s and here’s a little (cheers!) if you are drinking your afternoon cup reading this!

Visit Target from 5/20 – 6/30 and take 20% off any 1850 Brand Coffee Product with the Target Cartwheel Coupon (while supplies last)

SPRING CLEANING WITH CLOROX

By on April 20, 2018
This post has been kindly sponsored by Clorox. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It’s that time of year… Spring Cleaning! I don’t love and I don’t hate it, but every year I do it. There’s something so calming about a clean, decluttered house. It feels like there is more room to breathe! All year I am shoving things into drawers and closets and now it’s time to go through and sort all of the stuff that has piled up. It’s like little mini time capsules spread around the house. Haha, am I right?

When it comes to cleaning products I like to know I’ll be killing all the germs. That’s why I have used Clorox for as long as I can remember. Their products kill 99.9% of germs and I don’t know about you but I can’t live with a number any lower than that. Especially with my little one in the house.

This year I got a little festive and decided to try Clorox’s new Scentiva product line. I chose the Pacific Breeze and Coconut scent for all the products since I wanted one universal scent. And how heavenly does Pacific Breeze and Coconut and sound?! I’m relaxed just thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and next time you are in the cleaning isle, look out for it because there is a scratch a sniff on the bottle and with one sniff you’ll want to take it home.

These are the products I picked up and why:

CLOROX SCENTIVA FOAM CLEANER – I bought this cleaner for our tub/shower. It removes soap scum 15x’s faster for a spotless tub. This product is always under the bathroom sink for quick, powerful cleaning.

CLOROX SCENTIVA MULTI-SURFACE CLEANER – I think this product might be my favorite cleaning product, like ever. I seriously use it everyday in every room of the house. It’s my little powerhouse cleaner cutting tough grease and grime while killing 99.9% of viruses and bacteria. Talk about a special helper!

CLOROX SCENTIVA TOILETWAND SYSTEM – I have had one of these wands in my bathroom since I was a kid. Just clean the bowl, then toss the head away. Killing 99.9% of germs, my mom was all about them! I was so excited when I saw they had these in the Pacific Breeze and Coconut scent too.

CLOROX SCENTIVA TOILET CLEANING GEL – I like to have this gel on hand for a deeper clean. The wands are great but every few times I like to switch it up and get in there to dissolve hard water and lime scale stains.

So now you know my top 4 bathroom picks. Do you have a favorite that you think I am missing? Leave me a comment below to let me know.

CITY TRAVEL ESSENTIALS: PACKING LIGHT WITH TODDLER

By on December 30, 2017

The older Lila gets the less we usually need while on an outing. I try my hardest to travel light, but I admit I have a safety net knowing that I packed our car for just about every scenario. I find myself wanting to carry a diaper bag even less when my husband is out with us. Don’t get me wrong I sure do love carrying a bag but sometimes when you’re in the city it’s just easier to travel light.

Since Lila is still in diapers one thing that we can’t ever leave in the car is diapers, wipes, and a changing mat. I absolutely love this changing kit from Skip Hop. I have been using the exact system since Lila was just a baby. I love that there is a place for the essentials and easily clips to the stroller or can slip into the under basket. I am a sucker for anything blush so I just upgraded to their new blush print! I love the textured pattern on the front and it feels so good getting a new, clean one. This time I tossed the red wipes case that it came with and threw in my favorite wipe holder in it’s place. I should have done this years ago!

Aside from packing light, we also travel light with the coolest stroller ever. We have had this stroller forever but it never gets old how small it folds up. It folds up into the size of diaper bag and has a carrying strap for you to hold it by. When we park in parking structures and have to walk up the stairs my husband will carry it and I’ll carry Lila. Then we get to the car we talk about how awesome it is that we didn’t have to wait for the elevator. Ha! It’s also useful for those restaurants that aren’t exactly kid friendly and don’t know what to do with your stroller while you eat. We just fold it up and throw it under the table.

I actually get stopped almost every time we go out and people ask about my stroller. Either they know what model it is already or they’ll say ‘is that the one that folds really small?’ My husband will roll his eyes overtime we get stopped because he knows I love to talk about our stroller with strangers while we are out.

So this our travel system right now! Light, practical, and easy to transport from point a to point b. If you have any questions let me know in the comments.

HOW I AM SKIPPING THE GROCERY LINES WITH MY TODDLER

By on November 27, 2017

We have all been there.

Well at least I’ve been there. With an overtired and cranky toddler getting pushed around in a shopping cart desperately trying to get each item on my list into the cart. We pass by the crackers, she cries for crackers, I give her the crackers. We pass by the cookies, she cries for cookies, I give her the cookies. And so on and so forth. Before I know it I can’t even see my kid because she is under a pile of snacks in the shopping cart. Then we get into the checkout line and out comes my telephone my kid is so sugar-ified that now she wants to run around. This is just fine for a Tuesday morning at 9am, but the last thing I wanted to do during this busy holiday season.

I have been using Milk and Eggs service instead of going to the grocery store for months now. Their produce is absolutely amazing. I would compare their their fruit and veggies to farmer’s market quality, but with grocery store prices. (Yeah, score!) But really the best part is I take the shopping list off of my refrigerator and after my toddler is asleep I sit down and on my phone or computer I make my order. It’s delivered to my doorstep before I wake up the next morning and I start the day feeling productive with a well stocked kitchen.

I can’t say enough good things about this service, or about not having to to grocery shopping with my two year old. I mean I love shopping with her at the mall, Target, or wherever. But grocery shopping? Skip. If you want to try Milk and Eggs with me this holiday season I snagged you a 40% off coupon- and 40% off groceries, I mean c’mon. When does that ever happen?! Happy Holidays everyone!

Enjoy 40% off your first purchase at MilkandEggs.com when you click this link or copy and paste it in a new browser: http://i.refs.cc/7oLxIJB5      (coupon will automatically be applied to your cart)

It’s #NationalBundtDay + Things I’m Thankful For

By on November 14, 2017

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and sometimes it is way to easy to get sucked into the holiday. This year I am doing best to not forget to look my left and look to my right, at the two most important people in my life. Lila is growing so fast that sometimes I want to stop myself from blinking. In my opinion she is at the perfect age. She is so fun to be around and so good at making an ordinary day feel special. I love that about her. She makes a simple trip to the grocery store a special adventure. Sometimes we are pirates looking for the perfect oranges and sometimes she’ll have a brilliant idea where we have to rush to the coffee shop to hide from the bergens.

I will take any excuse to have a relaxing afternoon with my girl. I hope everyone gets to enjoy a slice of cake outside in the sunshine today!

HOW TO OVERCOME THE MIDDAY SLUMP

By on June 6, 2017

Hi Everyone!

I don’t know about you but once two o’clock strikes I am dire need of a cup of coffee. Between entertaining a toddler, keeping up on work, and attempting to keep the house clean I need a little pick me up to continue the day running smoothly. I have a simple 3 step routine that always perks me up, so if you need a little midday slump inspiration- this one’s for you.

The first thing I like to do when I can feel the slump starting is drink a bottle of water. Anywhere between 8-16 ounces seem to do the trick. It’s always funny to me how something as simple as drinking a glass of water always improves my mood. Next I like to make a cup coffee. I happen to really love drinking coffee and of course can use any extra pep I can get. My absolute favorite afternoon coffee are VitaCup coffee and tea pods.

VitaCup coffee and tea pods are different because their coffee is blended with essential vitamins. This helps to add that extra perk to your cup and leaves your body feeling great. They offer three different flavors: French Roast, French Vanilla and Green Tea. My favorite is the The French Vanilla K-Cup which has a signature vitamin formulation of B1 (Thiamine), B5, B6, B9 (Folic Acid), Antioxidants, B12 & D3. These vitamins help support functions including immune health, alcohol digestion, and metabolism. This particular vitamin blend is also a healthy coffee alternative to energy drinks. For those late evening slumps when I just can’t justify another cup of coffee I like the green tea option, which is also packed with vitamins.
The best part about these pods is that they are eco friendly. Say whaaat?! That’s right fully recyclable coffee pods – and yes, you can put the plastic directly in your recycling bin. The plastic is BPA free. The grinds are great for your garden or compost pile. The mesh filter is biodegradable. There’s never any dairy, gluten, or GMOs. So for the record that’s a win, win, and win. 🙂
My third and final step of the afternoon slump routine is to snack on fruit. I always get so snacky in the afternoon but nothing leaves me feeling more energized or more fueled than cutting up a few different fruits and enjoying them with my little lady. My favorite fruits to snack on are bananas, cantaloupe, and strawberries. Lila will usually eat a whole banana in the time it takes me to drink my coffee and she is still ready to steal bites of mine. Sometimes I thinks she is a monkey because she could totally live off bananas.
I hope you enjoyed these tips to help overcome the midday slump and that they work for you in your home. Till next time!
